There has always a lot of question over the validity or even existence of premonitions. But much evidence would seem to suggest that they do indeed exist, and also that we would do well to heed them. Most of us would never even consider ourselves in the least bit clairvoyant or even psychic , but at the same time many of us will have had 'gut' reactions to situations in our life, or 'sensed' an atmosphere around us, or even have 'picked up' that somethng was not really right about a situation or something our child or friend was telling us. All of which would suggest that that we are indeed sensitive to the energetic environment that surrounds us.Animals have never forgotten their instincts, nor how to use them. My dog Pippa always knew when my ex was due home, and he never came home at the same time each evening, so it was never about the timing. The animals all knew when the Tsunami was coming, as they all cleared out just days/hours prior to it hitting. They knew because they 'sensed it', and why we can accept that animals can sense things, while we can't is beyond me. Is it because we do not want to admit to what we may term our 'animal instinct?'
Even the type of vocabulary that we use is telling us something about our sensitivity and our ability to tune in. We have a 'gut reaction' - a most interesting term to use, particularly in regard to the fact that the gut is exactly where our solar plexus is located.
Generally the solar plexus is the chakra that works the hardest on a more physical level, tuning into and sensing our immediate environments. Because of this, it tends to be our most vulnerable chakra, mainly because it's job is to link in with those around us, and whom we communicate and interact with on a daily basis. This is often why we sometimes create a protective layer of fat around this area. Almost like we are trying to defend ourselves against 'feeling' too much.
If asked had we ever had a hunch about something, most of us would certainly have had at least one experience or another that we could share. But most of us regard an actual premonition as some sort of 'vision' or altered state of consciousness, when in fact it can be just a 'knowing' or a 'feeling' that something is about to happen. That absolute certainty some has happened to your child, your friend or your father.
Many years ago, before I even knew that I had this gift, I remember just blurting things out of the blue, not really knowing what I was doing. One particular time, I was sat in a pub with my friends, when a pregnant lady walked past, I looked at my friend Sue and said 'that could be you in 6 months'. She looked at me and laughed, saying 'no way!' Six months later she was very, very pregnant. Another time my sister in law was told she would not be able to have children. Quick as a flash I said, 'yes you will, you will have two.' She now has two, very healthy boys, and neither via IVF or somesuch technique.
The weirdest encounter was when I went to the greyhounds one evening. I had never been before, nor have I been since, but that night was amazing. You see, I won 11 races, one after the other! Each time I could see who the winner was going to be, and I was right. But I had never experienced this before, so I never trusted my intuition that evening. Nor did my 6 companions, who although astounded at my constant luck, and whom continously asked how I was doing it, never followed my lead, and betting on the same dog. I realise now what I was being shown, my ability to see the future, and no, I have not been able to repeat that particular trick!
I have, though, had many other experiences, too many to list. I also know of friends that have had premonitionary dreams, some of them only personally relevant to them, and some more relevant to us all as a whole. One friend told me she dreamt of being on an aeroplane that crashed over Scotland, she thought it was connected to her personally, so, as she had no plans to travel by air to Scotland, she dismissed it from her thoughts. 2 weeks later Lockerbie happened. She later told me that every detail was correct, except her being on board, the very reason she had discounted it from her mind.
There have been many well known cases where premonitions have played a devastating part of our lives on a macro level, some of which have been well publicised. In particular the one involving David Icke, and his humiliating experience at the hands of Terry Wogan. Regardless of what we think of him and what he has written, that was a shameful interview by Mr Wogan, and was completely unnecessary. David was initially ridiculed by the press in regard to his book, where he claimed there would be a massive air disaster aimed at the United States, and involving some tall buiildings. After the devasting impact of 9/11 took place, people had to stand back and take stock of what he had in fact written many, many months prior to the incident actually occurring.
Maybe a little less known is the fact that President Lincoln actually had a premonitionary dream involving his own death. He apparently dreamt one night that upon walking into a room at the Whitehouse, he came upon a Guard of Honour stood to attention over a corpse, wrapped in funeral vestments. When he asked the guard who it was that had died, he was told that it was the President of America, and that he had been assasinated!
The stories are endless, and while some are wild goose chases or just plain fanciful thinking, there should be a place in our world for premonitions. There is more than enough factual evidence to support them and their authenticity, enough evidence for us to 'know' that they are real, and that they could play a really important part of our lives.
